Checo Pérez Acknowledges Challenging Season in F1

Mexican driver Sergio "Checo" Pérez acknowledged that he has had a poor performance this year with the Red Bull team. This is due to the lack of expected results and the modifications made to his vehicle. He currently occupies eighth place in the driver championship with 150 points, in contrast to his teammate Max Verstappen, who leads with 354 points.

In the first five races of the season, Pérez managed to reach the podium four times. Despite the challenges, the 34-year-old driver highlighted: "It has been a complicated year, with a car you don't have confidence in, but giving up is never an option, and we will continue to give it our all here." Pérez expressed his support for Max Verstappen, calling him a great leader.

The Mexican has won six Grand Prix races in his Formula One career since his debut in 2011. Regarding the Constructors' Championship, where Red Bull is positioned in second place with 504 points, Pérez mentioned that the competition is not yet defined, but it is necessary to increase the pace in the next five races of the season.

During a press conference in Mexico City, Sergio Pérez emphasized the importance of improving and achieving a better race pace ahead of the upcoming competitions. He confirmed that he will fulfill his contract with Red Bull and ruled out any possibility of leaving the team. In June of this year, Pérez renewed his contract for two more years with the Red Bull team, which he joined in late 2020.
